We had one kitty with a heart defect, who we kept medicated on lasix to keep his fluid levels down. He lived comfortably for a couple years after being diagnosed, and finally died in the middle of the night due to fluid that had built up in his lungs. We both felt terrible but there was nothing we could have done, it was so unexpected.
