Will o' the Wisps are, in all accounts, floating globes of light. For some storytellers they're just that -- drifting around and neither harming nor helping anyone. In other accounts they are malevolent, appearing as far-off lanterns and luring weary travelers into danger. Whether I'm the easy-to-ignore type or the dangerous one is left as an exercise for the reader.

My name is Cat, and I live in New Mexico. My significant other's name is Andy, his Dreamwidth username is callicrates, and we've been married since 1998. We have three daughters. Heidi was born on March 20th in 2003, Jenny was born on June 14 2011, and Zoë was born on August 3rd, 2016. That all three are adopted and are of a different species than my husband and me probably matters to some people.

Andy and I had two other daughters and a son, Thena, Gail, and Sean. Thena was born on May 31st, 1992. On July 29th, 2003, she very suddenly died in my arms. Gail was born on September 2nd, 2000. After developing an illness which seemed under control she suddenly relapsed. Andy and I had to make the decision to let her go where we couldn't follow on June 28th, 2004, one day shy of the 11-month anniversary of Thena's death. Sean was diagnosed with nasal adeno-carcinoma in July of 2016, and we let him go on July 25th, 2017.

Thena was a first cat for me and was with me for some of the worst and some of the best times of my life, and she welcomed Andy into our lives. She was the best cat anyone could ever hope for. Gail was a little shooting star whose streak through our lives was brilliant but far too brief. Sean was special in a way I can't describe, and losing him was devastating for Andy and me. I can only hope they realize(d) how very much we love them.

In the past I volunteered for PACA*AAR (People's Anti-Cruelty Association/Albuquerque Animal Rescue) at Kitty City in the Clark's Pet Supplies at the corner of Juan Tabo and Menaul. At the moment, I'm on knitting hiatus, though I have plans to start up again sometime in 2021.
