I just got a phone call from someone in Oregon. She wanted to let me know that they'd received the applications and just realized they were for someone else. I explained about the area code mixup, we had a laugh, and she promised to black out things like SSNs and account numbers before throwing away the lot of them. I wish I'd gotten her name and address so I could send some flowers or something; this is just a huge relief.

As mentioned in an earlier post today, we got some good news early on -- all of our personal information went to a legitimate business as opposed to, say, cracker central. We'll still be keeping an eye on our credit (especially since we're looking into buying a house once we're in NM, if Andy gets the job), but at least knowing the people were honest enough to call us makes me feel a lot better.

I did a lot of things which I'd been planning to yesterday until Monday attacked. [livejournal.com profile] turnberryknkn will have clean sheets to sleep on when he visits, and once I've actually taken a sponge to the counter top and stove, the kitchen will be technically clean again. Andy invited me to a talk given by his advisor's wife -- apparently I have picked up some of his work by osmosis, because I was able to follow along fairly well, and he later said that the talk had been geared more toward people who already knew what was going on.

Tanner and Janell called and asked us if we wanted to go out to dinner and we accepted. We went to Big Bowl, where I had my usual (broccoli, carrots, and pea pods with wok-tossed chicken in teriyaki sauce) and Andy had his usual (chicken Pad Thai). Bram is in his "drop things on the floor" stage, and he may well someday be a baseball player, given how accurately he tossed his spoon. On the way home Andy said that if he gets the job, one thing he'll miss is Tanner's spontaneity. Had we been left to our own devices dinner would have been chicken parmesan yet again.

Andy and I had a long talk tonight which helped clear some things up. We're going to start setting aside together time again; it sort of slipped when he was working on his thesis and wasn't resumed even after he defended. Then I went on my walk in nice cool air, though by the end I was wishing there was some wind. If Andy's up to it I plan on giving him a massage tonight. I'm not very good at it, but it's better than nothing.
