Old Friends

Today I got a call from a vaguely familiar number in upstate NY. Turns out it was the cell phone of my friend Steve and his partner, Hawk. I've journalized about them before, but I'm too lazy at the moment to go back and look for when. Anyway, it turns out they were passing through Albuquerque on their itinerant jobs and wanted to see if we could get together. A few minute's worth of MUSH chat with Andy and we had a date. We took them to a steak place (they spent the last week packing up their house and traveling, so they were tired of sandwiches) where much good food was consumed in excellent company. They may end up heading back to where they left from, since they received word that their last employer might want to take Steve on for a permanent position. Hawk is also trying to talk Steve into applying for a permanent job in Los Alamos, which would be very cool. All in all, a very nice visit. I love when things like this work out.
