Hey Cat, look around for sales jobs that aren't commission based, there are some. I know Shane Co is all commission free and they can't be the only ones.
But I sympathesize, when they go on about retraining me, I'm like ackack, I have a PhD I trained 15 years or so for, 4 years of experience in it, and now you want me to do *what*?!
