Busy Work

So today I called Sandia CU to see if we could get an account set up before we get to NM. Unfortunately unless we travel to NM beforehand (very unlikely since we're leaving NC a month from this morning) we can't, since they need the original offer letter. Oh well; so I can't get everything done in advance. I also called an NM branch of the people who do our car insurance; she got the necessary information from me and is going to call our current agent, then call me back with a quote. Unless it's really exorbitant we'll be staying with the same company. I probably should look into whether we want to keep the same rental insurance people, or if they even cover NM.

A while back I had decided that we'd bring certain things, like tax records and insurance administrivia and bank statements with us in the car, and I allocated two boxes for all of it. Today I dumped all of the tax stuff into a box and quickly realized that I can almost certainly fit the bank/insurance paperwork in there. Andy is already worried about all the things I want to bring with, so was happy to hear there might be one less box. I spent most of the night sorting the non-tax papers so they'll be of some use when we get there.

Sooner or later I'm going to have to start doing hard things, like deciding what to keep and what to leave behind. I called the new children's hospital today and got their guidelines for toy donations, so some of the bears we bought but never gave away will soon be finding a new purpose. We'll take pictures of the others we've decided to part with and send them to turnberryknkn (who's on LJ hiatus) so he can see if he wants to give any of them a home. Anyone else who might be interested, please let me know. Maybe this weekend I'll go through knick-knacks and get rid of a bunch. Then again, maybe not.
