Monica came for her follow-up visit today. She looks to see if the kitty seems healthy, remembers her, and wants to go home with her. Heidi passed the first (she said how soft Heidi was -- I guess the better cared-for the softer the cat or something). She let Monica pick her up and seemed to remember her, but within a few seconds she had some important playing to do. Monica said that was a good sign; an unhappy kitty would cling to her and try to go home with her.

We also introduced her to Gail, and she was stunned at how gorgeous the Widget is. Yesterday Andy noticed that Gail's nose seemed chafed, and later I noticed that it'd been bleeding. When I told Monica about it at Kitty City she thought it might be ringworm, but as soon as she saw the nose in person she said it definitely wasn't. She said it looked like Gail had hit her nose hard on something.

As I've mentioned before, we have a very pretty light well. The problem is that it has a low wall, so a kitty can jump up and, if she misjudges, will fall two stories. We recently bought and Andy installed a baby gate to keep our little klutz from falling in that manner, and that night we both heard a large crash/thud. Our current theory is that she jumped onto the ledge without realizing the baby gate was there and that's when her nose got scraped.

The way Kitty City is set up is that you enter one door, shut it, and walk through the hall to the actual door. This is because we have some quick little escape artists, especially Mikey (orange and white) and Dixon (who people often mistake for Lovie's brother). There are some cages for rescue ferrets in the hall, and for the first time today it had little critters in it. There were two Kiki-colored ferts and one Tuffy-colored. One of the Kikis sniffed my hand and let me pet it. The second Kiki looked really pale -- I hope it's ok.
