We went and looked at furniture. They still have the same couch we do, still only in one color. They also had a sectional made from the same material and color as our current one. My big thing for our great/living room is that from now on I want to be able to have another couple over and have enough permanent-like seats for all of us. The sectional probably would do nicely. We also saw a recliner couch/love seat/comfy chair set which came in the same color as ours or more of a whitish. We're not going to buy now, however.

Mom always told me that brown and gray don't go together. Our house is blues, grays, and whites and our couch is cocoa-colored. We figure, though, that we can decide if it all goes after we've moved and seen how the couch works with the carpet and wall colors. Andy said he thought it would, and I told him about Mom's brown/gray thing. It is a running joke that neither Andy nor I are good choices when trying to figure out if things go well together. So I idly wondered if we knew any gay guys who were local...

To me, 'it looks good' = 'I like the way it looks, screw what everyone else thinks, it's /my/ house'. ;)

Non-gay guys have taste. I let my husband do all the selection for decorative items after I've narrowed the field to a few choices. He has much better taste and color sense than I do.

It's a warm colour, cold colour thing. Greys, whites and blues are all cold colours, browns, reds etc are warm colours. Generally it's advised not to do the same together, but really it all depends on shade.

Also, from a couple's pov, I've hated sectionals - you can't curl up in two separate couples really, it's pretty intrusive onto your space.

All MHO and you can slap me if you like!

Gray / Brown

Well, my mom would have to agree with your mom that gray and brown generally don't work together. However, if you end up wanting to use a brown couch in a gray room, the best way to make it work is find something like throw pillows or an afghan that have a pattern with both colors in it and put it/them on the couch. That ties everything together and makes it work. Just my two cents, of course. And cocoa-colored might actually be a brown hue that slants towards the gray/blue more than a true brown would. Dunno.

Well, well, well, so this is where you've been all the while! It's Ashley! Can you believe it?! *wired from too much diet coke* I hope you don't mind that I've jumped into your LJ domain, but it is so very nice to see that you're still online. I miss you, m'dear!

I'm friending you if that's alright and I'd love for you to add me. I will warn you that my LJ tends to have moments of Snape-obsessed fandom rambling as well as lots and lots of hubby/children/stress whining. ;) I do try to keep it at a minimum, though.

I'm going to toddle along and besiege Andy's journal now that I've found the two of you. Consider yourself snugged, hugged, pounced on and all of the above!

Woot!

Woot! When [livejournal.com profile] kater_kat got a journal we had thought of ganging up and getting you to make one too; looks like you beat us to it. BTW, [livejournal.com profile] druidsfire is a face from your past and an avid Snape-fan as well. In fact, she recently insulted me when I came up as Remus in a personality quiz wherein she ended up as Snape. Last but not least, she hasn't updated in a while, but a person whose RL name resembles "Rikistene" somewhat has a journal under the name [livejournal.com profile] erish.
