Mad Hatter Tea Party
Jun. 21st, 2021 08:10 pmThis afternoon I attended a tea party put on by some friends. Andy was invited too but couldn't attend due to work, but he drove me and picked me up, for which I'm grateful. He and I got some yummy take-home treats as well. It was more of a high tea than a Mad one, and no bats were twinkled. I already knew I liked green tea, but I discovered that I'm not unfond of Earl Grey as well.
The company was interesting. It included Andy's and my Tuesday night D&D Dungeon Master (DM) and two and a half other players (the DM's husband shows up as a cameo sometimes in the game) as well as significant others, the DM and her husband's children, and the DM's in-laws. We did some game chat, but most of the afternoon was just general chat and getting to know each other. The father-in-law was interested in hearing about Andy and when Andy came to pick me up, struck up a conversation with Andy about Andy's specialization.
It was a lot of fun, and I'm glad I went. While three hours of being social with ten other people tired me out, I would not have missed it for anything but the gravest emergency. I look forward to future tea parties, and now that I know the people the subsequent ones will be easier. For now, I'm going to give Heidi her evening snack and go to sleep.
