$12 500? WTF? How can they justify that? As you say, it's pure and simple extortion. I assume that's just the consultation and not the tests etc etc etc.
You know what I'd do? I'd send that story to the media, just as you've written it. Or to your local friendly politician if you think that'd help. That is just appalling.
