We do have assigned chores, but due to various circumstances (like, oh, being in Rome all weekend twice in the space of three weeks), I hadn't gotten some of them done. I decided to do them that day rather than waiting for the weekend, but I didn't tell him since I wanted it to be a pleasant surprise.
