Feb. 14th, 2003 11:59 pmToday was errand day, and we managed to get all of them done despite I-40's best efforts. On the way home we stopped to get some orange juice and some cinnamon for a new recipe I want to try for Andy. He loves pears, so I sent him a batch of Harry and David pears which had three different types, including baking. I meant to make it tonight, but he decided he wanted to wait until tomorrow.
We had a candlelit dinner of buttermilk chicken, rice, salad, and sparkling cider. As I was cooking he played Final Fantasy, and when we went to sit down he said "You know, there are a lot of people who wouldn't consider playing video games and eating at home to be romantic. Those people are currently at restaurants waiting to be seated." They probably were still waiting by the time we were happily full, especially given the way restaurants are around here on normal Fridays.
Andy got a teddy bear (I couldn't resist, it was so soft), some chocolate-covered cherries, and some Toblerone. He says the first time he ever tried the latter, his brain fused, so I figured it was a safe bet. After dinner he played more of his game and I called Heather. Denny was away with work, and I figured she wouldn't mind some adult conversation. Only, he wasn't -- the assignment was over, so he was home. I can't wait to see them next weekend.
I also called Mom today in hopes she'd tell me Dave had proposed to Pamela. She wasn't home, so I decided to call Grandpa to see how he was doing, and she answered. Sadly there was no news on the Pamela and Dave front except that despite their promise not to exchange gifts since they'd just bought a house, Dave had gotten Pamela some roses.
